The university reform is a process by which the student manages to adhere to a quality university education, the same ones that have to have everything essential to achieve their goals. For this reason, the present investigation has the purpose of carrying out a descriptive critical analysis of the key aspects of the UR. It was developed in a qualitative approach, supported by an exploration based on the review of LAC journals from 2019 to 2022 in public universities. Through which an investigation of the bibliography was carried out, where 73 articles from different countries were used. Where the main topics on the UR were taken into account such as: research, academic freedom, proposals for improvement, curricular mesh and pedagogical changes, university autonomy, student participation, university extension, comparative analysis, normative character, description and general aspects. Consequently, the claim that the university reform has is to determine the scientific and didactic work of the superior house of studies with the purpose of transforming it into an establishment that contributes actively to the improvement of society, to sustainable human development, to carry out research that generates social and academic contributions. Therefore, the UR contributes to the progress in the various aspects of the countries. Given this, public universities must carry out their investigative role with the perspective of contributing to society by introducing reforms that generate dynamism among university actors.
