The objective of this research was to analyze public policies in the management of drug storage in public hospitals. The study approach was qualitative. The study subjects were made up of workers from medicine warehouse of the Dos de Mayo National Hospital of Peru. The tool was applied for data collection was a semi-structured interview applied to 10 workers. This research has found that current pharmaceutical public policies undergo various changes and this violates the ability to ensure the storage and availability of medications for patients at the right time, especially in emergency situations. In relation to the management of drug stores, they do not receive the necessary budget and they do not have necessary human resources to cover physical and technical capacities for proper management. Likewise, the products of the specialized medicine warehouse are often not in optimal conditions in the process of entry and exit of the products, due to the fact that the infrastructure of several hospitals in the country is in inadequate conditions for storage of medicines. This investigation has found that there is a willingness to comply with regulations regarding GAP, however, the current characteristics of infrastructure, size, distribution and location do not allow them to be applied adequately.
