Citizen participation is a constitutional right that can have a great impact on society depending on the level of involvement of the population. In this work, the relationship between citizen participation and the participatory budget in the District Municipality of Moro for the year 2021 was studied. A sample size of 315 people was used, which were submitted to 2 questionnaires, which were previously validated by 5 experts on the subject. The results revealed that the highest percentage of the study population (38.73%) has a low level of citizen participation, however, a slightly lower percentage (35.51%) has a high level of citizen participation. In addition, we found that the social, political and administrative dimension have a high correlation with the participatory budget variable, and at the same time, when evaluating the citizen participation and participatory budget variables, a high correlation (r=-0.910) is observed, statistically significantly (p<0.05). Therefore, it is affirmed that the citizen participation variable has a significant influence on the participatory budget. These results show the influence of political, social and administrative aspects in the involvement of the population in matters of project prioritization and decision making.
