The objective of the research was to determine the relationship that exists between the architec-tural design criteria that have been used in the design and construction of homes and the level of each type of comfort perceived by those who inhabit them; in the rural community of the hamlet of Tunape, province of Piura, in northern Peru. The research was applied, non-experimental, sim-ple correlational. Two questionnaires and an observation sheet were applied to 60 homes. The main result was that there is a significant relationship between the architectural design criteria used and the comfort of the occupants of the houses (p=0.018<0.050), Spearman’s Rho coefficient of -0.305, indicate that they have a low negative relationship. It was concluded that the greater the use of inadequate architectural design criteria, then there is a greater decrease in the comfort of the occupants of the houses of the Tunape farmhouse.
