The objective of the study was to outline the legal-philosophical foundations of the right to a dignified death for terminally ill persons in Peru, as well as to identify the legal challenges based on the Ana Estrada case. Therefore, from a qualitative approach, with a hermeneutic method and a systematic and critical analysis of the documentary source, it is concluded that the court ruling that allows the application of euthanasia to Estrada, opens an unprecedented legal perspective in the country and involves the implementation of a medical and legal protocol that will serve as a reference for cases that may be requested in the future. It will be up to the State and the public opinion to promote a participative, technical and argued debate to face the legal challenge that this matter entails.
