The objective of this review article was to analyze the RENIEC kinship registry and its incorporation into the intestate succession processes for legal security. The methodology used was bibliographic documentary analysis, under a qualitative approach, the sample was made up of the documentary collection that was made up of scientific articles, doctoral theses, books, etc. which are hosted in the specialized databases Scielo, Scopus, Web Of Science. The results highlight the importance of the RENIEC kinship registry, established by Legislative Decree No. 1279, which establishes the duty to register kinship ties and other links derived from registrations with the RENIEC. This allows us to know the family ties between a person and their ancestors, descendants or collaterals. It is concluded that the Right to inheritance is a fundamental right recognized in the Constitution. To protect this right, there is the inheritance petition action. However, intestate succession processes lack a legal mechanism that provides legal security, such as the RENIEC kinship registry. It is necessary for the legislator to consider the mandatory nature of this registration to guarantee legal certainty. The legal framework established by Legislative Decree No. 1279 regulates the duty to register kinship ties in the RENIEC. A legislative reform is suggested to incorporate a mechanism that identifies the parental relationship of the deceased with his legal successors.
