The aim of this article was to carry out an in-depth evaluation of knowledge management in public institutions through a literature review. A documentary bibliographic methodology was used to collect pertinent information and analyze key concepts related to the topic. A critical review of several publications in scientific journals indexed in recognized databases such as Scopus and Scielo, recognized for their influence in the global scientific community, was developed. This study contributed to identifying the relevance of the factors involved and their importance in institutional progress. The results provided a perspective on the level of organization of existing publications around the topic addressed.
