The objective of this article is to analyze the perception of high school stu-dents about the application of the PhET simulator in teaching chemistry in a public secondary school in Cusco, Peru. The study was quantitative, with a non-experimental design and intentional non-probabilistic sampling. To col-lect data, a twelve-question survey was used, applied to a sample of 162 par-ticipants. The most important result indicates that the highest percentage of students perceive positively the application of the PhET simulator in chemis-try classes, since they think that they work more independently, they have not lost autonomy, they work more intensely and they learned a lot with the simulator. The most important result indicates that the vast majority of stu-dents affirm that they agree (33.3\%) and totally agree (24.1\%) that the use of the PhET laboratory allows for greater development of competencies relat-ed to chemistry. It is concluded that the vast majority of students perceive positively the use of the PhET laboratory in learning chemistry because it al-lows greater development of skills related to that subject.
