In Latin America there is a higher incidence of delinquency, violence, insecurity and organized crime; For this reason, this article proposes to identify the perception that one has regarding citizen insecurity, the factors that influence violence and the impacts resulting from this social phenomenon; because insecurity is a problem that seems to be getting worse, becoming a bad reality, which is present in the daily lives of citizens. For its development, a descriptive bibliographic review was carried out, using 42 articles from various Latin American countries. It can be seen that one of the most researched topics is — factors that influence violence. Finally, this article concludes with a brief discussion regarding the findings.
