This study is framed within the context of environmental problems and its main objective is to contribute to environmental education to generate transformations in the attitude and aptitude of people, seeking to achieve a harmonious balance between human beings and their environment. It recognizes the need to have the support of various disciplines and the active participation of individuals and institutions. The objective of the study was to achieve environmental education as a cultural basis and strategy to raise awareness and in turn disseminate environmental education from its environment to higher entities and society. The study was structured into: solid waste treatment and recycling culture, increase in living spaces, water care and energy savings. This research adopts a qualitative approach in its methodological design, using interviews as a technique to collect information from administrative workers and education specialists of a Local Educational Management Unit. The results are framed in the achievement of behavioral awareness in environmental education. It is concluded that there is little concern for environmental problems, the study allowed awareness and reflection in environmental education.
