In recent decades, Peru has experienced a significant transformation in its democratic landscape, largely driven by the growing public engagement of its citizens. This article explores how active citizen participation is redefining democracy in the country, analyzing various forms of civic engagement and their impacts on governance. The study used documentary-type research, due to the fact that the information obtained was monitored and then organized to facilitate a systematization that led to an in-depth analysis of the topic under study. The article concludes that it is necessary to develop projects to insert a Citizenship Education plan in the educational sector, in order to develop knowledge of the state and the benefits it provides in overcoming poverty in the various strata from an early age.
