The main economic activity of the Moquegua region is mining. This activity constitutes a significant percentage of Peru’s exports. However, there is evidence of environmental damage in the region resulting from this activity, which is detrimental to water availability and environmental liabilities. The objective of the study was to verify the relationship between the level of mineral production and CO2 emissions. For estimation, square models with estimation of ordinary squares are used (OLS). The results show that mining production increases CO2 emissions in the region due to the production of each mining product. Then, environmental care is necessary to guarantee the well-being of future generations, if not given timely attention it will have serious consequences for future generation.
