The purpose of this research was to determine the influence of competency-based training on formative evaluation in students of Initial Teacher Training at a pedagogical institute in Villa el Salvador, 2023. An experimental design was carried out under the quasi-experimental modality with a control group (CG) and an experimental group (GE). The sample consisted of 40, distributed in 20 participants per group of students between 22 and 37 years of age, of Initial Teacher Training who are in the IX cycle of Primary and Initial Education study programs, from marginal urban areas, of medium and medium-low social stratum. The sampling was intentional. The results showed significant differences at the post-test level in the experimental group (GE) with respect to the (GC) according to p value (sig.0,00 < α 0,05) with an average of 11, as well as a U value=10.000; Z=5.940178. These results reflect the effects of the intervention based on competency-based training strengthening formative assessment in students of a pedagogical institution of FID who from the experiment developed skills and abilities associated with identifying and understanding their own learning process.
