The present bilbiometric study is focused on virtual education in rural areas, a topic of great importance for the context in which we live of technological advancement and speed in society. The main objective of the research is to analyze the scientific approach to the process of virtual education in rural contexts to determine an approximation of the state of the art and theoretical perspectives on the topic. To obtain the results, a quantitative approach was used and a bibliometric analysis was carried out with metadata extracted from the Scopus database. The results of this study are important because there is great interest in knowing the advances and limitations that exist in different countries regarding virtual education, since the pandemic this situation has become evident. Finally, this bibliometric study has contributed to the understanding and analysis of virtual education in rural contexts throughout history. The results highlight central areas of research and suggest future perspectives to delve deeper into the topic.
