The orientation and tutoring plan has a very important role in the entrants to the university level, since it is very difficult to adapt to the new challenges at this stage, but it will depend on the student, the university and the tutors to reach success. The objective of this research is to review the aspects of orientation and tutoring at the university level. The methodology used is a research, search and selection of scientific articles and sources related to university guidance and tutoring, for which the review and analysis of 32 scientific articles, 3 reports and 2 electronic books indexed in the Google Scholar, Scopus and Scielo databases was carried out, using selection criteria. In the results it was found that the studies cover different aspects, but important topics such as the working system of the guidance and mentoring plan in universities and the results obtained with the guidance and mentoring program are still to be addressed. It is concluded that the university orientation and tutoring program is often considered just one more course in the curriculum, and for the same reason, teachers do a lot of work that bogs down and accumulates the student, losing the true value of the program.
