Digital competencies are the knowledge, skills, abilities and capabilities needed to safely use ICT, the study was framed in the quantitative route with a non-experimental cross-sectional correlational design, descriptive method, the sample was 180 university students under a non-probabilistic sampling. The technique used the survey and as an instrument the questionnaire of Touron ett al. (2018) , consists of four dimensions: information management, communication and collaboration, content creation and problem solving. The sample was 180 university students from the first three cycles. The results showed that students are at a low level of 73% and 80% in the creation of digital content, with each of its dimensions, therefore it is concluded that digital competencies are necessary to take on the challenge of making use of technology effectively.
