The objective of the investigation was to review and systematize information regarding research on academic writing or writing of documents used in academic work, especially in the university context, with the purpose of establishing indicators such as origin, year, type, source and language. For this, twenty publications that appeared in the last five years in indexed journals were selected. It was found that there are investigations in various countries, in all years, since 2019, and with a diversity of methodologies, all oriented to the study of the aforementioned variable. It was concluded in the validity that these variables have in the research field and in their importance for the educational process, especially in student learning, as well as the need for appropriation of them by teachers.
