The main objective of the study was to analyze the relationship between the control of export costs and the economic sustainability of coffee organizations in Peru. A quantitative approach was applied and a descriptive-correlational non-experimental design with a cross-sectional approach was adopted; the sample consisted of 233 coffee growers, to whom two questionnaires were applied. The results obtained from this analysis revealed that there was a significant relationship between the control of various aspects of export costs and the economic sustainability of the coffee organizations under investigation. Specifically, it was found that the control of preparation and packaging costs, the control of transportation and insurance costs, as well as the control of duties and licensing costs, had a significant relationship with economic sustainability (ρ = .01). In summary, the findings of this study support the importance of effective control of export costs in coffee organizations to achieve efficient economic sustainability; in that sense, if adequate strategies are implemented to manage and reduce the costs associated with coffee exports, coffee organizations have greater possibilities of maintaining and strengthening their long-term financial stability.
