The research focuses on the participation of women in the rural world, where their daily life is generated in environment of their family and community, a feat they achieve through their capacity and decision-making power to achieve empowerment in society. Starting from the premise of building local development with effort, these being based on agricultural and livestock activity, they have to face needs in the face of the challenge of the high cost of living, without them having completed studies and the vast majority are illiterate. who did not attend an educational center at any time in their lives. For this purpose, the objective is to understand the participation of rural women in governance of their community in Peru. Work developed through the qualitative approach, of a basic, non-experimental type, through interpretive paradigm, making use of the phenomenological and hermeneutic method, to work through the interview technique and as an instrument the structured interview guide, guiding the rural women participants of the areas of influence of a district in the Cajamarca region, where nine (9) questions were asked to four (4) female participants, representatives and leaders of their community, such as: (a representative of the Cooperation Fund for Social Development – FONCODES belonging to the Peruvian State; a representative of the “Porcón Cooperative” dedicated to working on gender equality and religiosity, a researcher from the National Institute of Agrarian Innovation-INIA, belonging to the agricultural sector, and finally a citizen leader of the community, who works in good of society) interview that lasted between 40 to 60 minutes. There is a deficiency in the participation of women in rural areas in terms of governance, little interest in community management, active participation in assistance programs issued by the central government, as well as daily field work in planting, harvesting, selling their products on a small scale, added to this, livestock farming with the production of dairy products such as: cheese, butter, delicacies, jams, yogurt, among others, based on the conservation of their culture and ancestors that remain in the legacy left by their ancestors, influencing their communal life and their children, in the sense of achieving empowerment in job employability upon completing their studies. From what is concluded, rural women consider that working together with their families manage to advance and avoid negative acts in society, regardless of the management as possible candidates or authorities in their field.
