Introduction: around 5 to 8 million deaths occur annually worldwide. The WHO cites the poor quality of health care as the cause. Of these deaths, more than 59% are produced in middle and low-income countries that required health care and did not receive quality care. It is specified that poor quality care leads to the loss of more than US $1.5 billion annually. Objective: to determine the assessment of the quality of health care provided by health facilities in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), as well as the methods used to measure it. Methodology: the research is descriptive, with a cross-sectional design, based on a literature search and review.
