In today’s local governments, it is evident that even officials show deficiencies in their managerial skills to be able to carry out their positions, that is, they assume sub-management, management, or political positions without the proper preparation that their official responsibilities deserve; Based on this, the purpose of this study is to contribute to the training and exercise of officials in local governments, elucidating from a secondary and university training approach, the development of their training process and the most appropriate management skills. Regarding the methodology, a search was made for 20 scientific articles indexed to the high-quality database SCOPUS, published between the years of 2019 and 2022. It was concluded that the development of the training process in terms of management skills can be start training from schools and consolidate from universities; Likewise, it is determined that the most appropriate management skills for the performance of public officials in local governments are soft skills and professional skills.
