It is important to know that public management seeks to use the resources that the State has in the most efficient way for the benefit of citizens, governance for its part seeks to build bridges that involve society and private companies with the state and in this way provide solutions to the needs of the inhabitants. In this sense, this study can help to make decisions in order to find a balance between social economic development and the environmental field, and thanks to this, achieve sustainability immersed within sustainable development, which will lead to a substantial improvement in the quality of life of the inhabitants. For this reason, the objective of the research is to determine the incidence of public management and governance in sustainable development. The research was of a quantitative approach, of a non-experimental design, cross-sectional correlational causation and explanatory level, with a sample made up of 120 citizens. Data collection was carried out through three questionnaires duly validated by expert judgment and its level of reliability was determined with a pilot test on 44 citizens, obtaining Cronbach’s alpha of 0.896, 0.800 and 0.884 respectively. Statistical analysis was done using the ordinal logistic regression model. As a result, it was obtained that 40.8% (Nagelkerke) of the variability of sustainable development is explained by public management and governance in the district of Cajamarca. Thus, the study concludes stating the incidence of public management and governance in the sustainable development of the district of Cajamarca.
