The objective of this work was to evaluate whether the use of the active methodology used in Peruvian schools increases academic performance with respect to the achievement of their competencies. The level of research is descriptive and the documentary design. For this, a systematic study of the literature of indexed journals such as: Ciencia Latina, Scopus Dialnet, Scielo, Redalyc, Discovery Service, among others, was carried out. Scientific articles and doctoral theses from the last five years (2017-2021) were collected for this study, where the location and selection was carried out according to certain technical criteria, which were evaluated qualitatively. The evidence shows that this active methodology based on constructivism improves academic results, as well as being important for understanding the dynamics of educational practice and contributing to replicating these findings in other teaching settings. It is concluded that this methodology, although it is being implemented in basic and higher education schools, there are still few application studies in relation to the implementation of this methodology in national schools.
