The present scientific article had as unit of analysis an educational institution of state management of agreement. The objective was to analyze the formative evaluation within the area of Art and Culture. The research belongs to the exploratory-descriptive qualitative paradigm with the review and selection of scientific articles, referring to formative evaluation in impact databases. Research from 2018 to 2022 was reviewed. For the formative evaluation to be effective, it is important to identify the factors that intervene in the measurement of abilities and skills in the area of Art and Culture. An analytical study of the current context of formative evaluation as a fundamental element for the development of effective learning that seeks the integral formation of students according to Ralph Tyler’s current pedagogical evaluation model is presented as results. It is concluded that it is necessary to structure methodological projection schemes on formative evaluation according to the needs and interest of the students in light of the curricular theory, didactics and artistic methodology. These results are articulated to the educational contexts of the secondary level that start from a situational diagnosis that can be applied to similar contexts.
