In a public secondary educational institution, continuity is evident in its internal processes with the use of traditional summative evaluation strategies, absence of technological knowledge that allows generating significant changes in the evaluation processes. The research is basic descriptive and propositional, quantitative approach, non-experimental design, population of 600 students, sample of 229 students, probabilistic sampling, the survey and questionnaire were used as an instrument aimed at students. An exhaustive analysis process has been carried out that has allowed us to identify and diagnose in detail the worrying and low level of formative evaluation, which has revealed a prevailing need for modernization in the methods and approaches used in formative evaluation.
