The purpose of this article was to carry out a meticulous and systematic literature review of the most important theories on play. These theories are used as pedagogical strategies and have a significant impact on the development of psychomotor skills of children in early education. These theories are based on the relationship that exists between the development of cognitive, psychomotor and emotional aspects, as well as the preservation and practice of values, which are crucial for coexistence in the development of various pedagogical activities. Therefore, play is a pedagogical tool that teachers use to interact with children and model their behavior and psychomotor skills.
