In contemporary times, the relevance of teachers’ commitment in educational institutions located in rural areas is a crucial aspect. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to understand the perception of work commitment of teachers working in rural educational institutions in the community of Chumbes during the year 2023. The methodology adopted is framed within a qualitative research approach, specifically using the phenomenological design as a methodological reference. The sample included eight informants, who are active teachers in educational institutions within the jurisdiction of the study area. Data collection was carried out through interviews containing 16 items. The instrument, a semi-structured interview guide, was developed and validated through a process of expert judgment. The findings underline the importance that teachers assign to their work commitment to the educational institution, teaching, students and their profession. The effort to contribute to the educational progress of the community, the dedication to the quality of teaching, the well-being and integral development of the students, as well as the continuous commitment to professional development and the positive impact of their work in the educational community of Chumbes are highlighted.
