The purpose of this research was to determine the incidence of Role Play with Speak without fear in the development of oral expression of English in students of higher education in a pedagogical institute of Perú. The method was application type, quasi-experimental design, delimited by a sample of 218 English language students. Thus, the questionnaire and the rubric were used, reflecting an acceptable level of reliability of 0.933. The results showed that role plays with Speak without fear significantly affect the development of students’ oral expression in English when a value is obtained (Mann Whitney U = 4,307.0; p < 0.05), as well as on grammar (Mann Whitney U = 4,256.5; p < 0.05), pronunciation (Mann Whitney U = 4,400.0; p < 0.05) and fluency (Mann Whitney U = 4,569.0; p < 0.05). It is concluded that the application of a learning methodology based on Role Play with Speak without fear positively influences the development of oral expression of English, by enhancing the ability to structure sentences of young students studying the English language.
