In recent times there have been a number of academic proposals to combat plagiarism in all its forms, but at the same time it has been observed that many members of the academic community, despite warnings, give in to the temptation of copying other people’s material without due recognition of the authors. The objective of the study is to reflect on the need to encourage students and teachers the importance of intellectual honesty when writing a paper, avoiding academic plagiarism. It is true that access to information has become vertiginous thanks to the Internet and the irruption of Artificial Intelligence, which has led to an increase in non-original works. For this reason, an ethic of responsibility based on values of academic integrity must be encouraged to promote good practices for original works together with the necessary support of the training institution in providing logistical and methodological teaching facilities in view of an academic culture of appreciation for the intellectual property of others.
