This study reviews a variety of scientific articles published over the last five years on the importance of epistemic models of family gardens. The review is based on different academic search engines, including articles from Venezuela and other countries where there is also interest in this topic. The following question was posed: How is the importance of epistemic models of family gardens demonstrated? The objective of this research is to conduct a systematic review of articles related to Epistemic Models and their influence on family gardens. To this end, information from the scientific network has been utilized, namely documents published in indexed academic journals, taking into account national and international studies in order to address the different approaches to this issue. The conclusion of this study indicates that the epistemic models of family gardens are a crucial factor that extends beyond their productive function. The significance of these practices lies in their capacity to embody a holistic and experiential form of knowledge that stands in opposition to the prevailing logic of formal and fragmented knowledge. This aspect serves to fortify the social and cultural resilience of communities. A review of the articles indicates that these models serve as foundational principles for food sovereignty, epistemic justice, and cultural resistance to the impositions of external development models. Consequently, the necessity to persist in the research and valuation of these practices, which are foundational to the sustainability and well-being of rural communities, is underscored.
