The purpose of the research is to make a critical analysis of the quality of higher education in American countries belonging to the OECD, taking into account articles published in indexed journals such as: Scopus, Web of Science and Scielo. Due to the fact that quality in higher education is an issue that today at an international level worries universities about being able to train future quality professionals who contribute to the development of their country, achieving this purpose implies the involvement of the State and institutions that regulate the guidelines in education, therefore, they must generate awareness of adjusting the national and international systems to the real needs of each country, with a culture of comprehensive or holistic quality that every educational institution aspires to. The years considered for the information obtained were from 2017 to 2022. It began with a quantitative approach, being the type of research descriptive, in addition, it was decided to review 50 articles and 3 theoretical bases relevant to the research.
