Formative evaluation based on various studies is considered an essential component of the pedagogical process. This article aimed to carry out a systematic review of the literature on formative assessment from various approaches to classroom education. A review of various database documents from Scopus, Scielo and others was carried out; using a variety of selection and exclusion criteria. It was found that it is essential to take advantage of various strategies of formative evaluation in order to increase student learning, concluding formative evaluation is the starting point allows strengthening student learning; Feedback is essential to be able to develop learning with adequate planning and active participation of the teacher for application in classroom.
